Using a custom name for GitHub account page, but not for project pages?

Right now, I'm using Github pages to host my personal blog, and have myname.com set up using the CNAME instructions they give.

However, I have several projects which I'd like to set up pages for, and ideally, I'd like these to be hosted at myusername.github.io/project, instead of under my custom domain name.

Is there a way to do this? The "hack" I've been doing to get around this is creating an organization, which works for larger projects, but I don't want to have tons of organizations for every project I make.
